Boning Caps clear smooth glide are made with a firmer silicone than the regular silicon ones. They are much softer than the plastic caps, so when in your garment they are not hard, but almost a little spongy. They have a round tip and are super smooth & slide through your bone casing easier because of the non grippy texture. 

Use for capping plastic boning (sometimes called glue boning) & Rigilene bones (sew in bones). You can also use on the ends of flat steel boning (if you remove the plastic casing first) & spiral bones as long as you trim the sharps off well first. Just press onto the end of the bones, fits snug. Can be stitched through with your sewing machine or needle and thread.

Note from the Parlour: As these are a new cap, I thought I would try them out on 6mm spiral bones. I made sure to trim the ends well so no little sharp bits were protruding, pushed on a smooth glide 6mm cap. It fitted snug and being hard silicone it was smooth, so glided into the bone channel nicely. Just a word of warning, if your bone channels are a tight fit to your bones, the cap could slip off if you need to remove your bones. In this case I would suggest fitting the bone without the cap and only put it on once it's to be permanently inserted, or you could place a hand stitch through the  silicon cap and bone with an ultra fine needle to secure it. The plastic bone caps sold here on "The Stitch Parlour" are the other option for capping 6mm spiral bones.
