Banroll - Hemming Tape

Banroll hemming tape helps create rolled hems on lightweight fabrics such as silk, chiffon and charmeuse satin. This 3.5cm-wide tape can also be used inside waistbands for added support and a clean finish. It is sold by the metre and can be reused for your next hemming project.

How to use it for rolled hems

Start by tearing away some strands from the tape. Stitch the tape to the right side of your fabric, then roll the fabric and topstitch. Remove the tape to reveal the rolled hem. Keep the tape after removing it so you can use it again next time.

This method is an option for hemming delicate materials, including the silks, chiffons and charmeuse satins mentioned above. Follow the sequence of attaching the tape, rolling, topstitching and removing the tape when preparing your hem.

Waistband support

For waistbands, cut the tape to size and place it inside the waistband of a skirt, pair of pants or shorts to add support and help create a clean finish.
